SHIP’S LOG
Argo is the ship of Greek legend that carried Jason and the Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece. It became the constellation Argo Navis, whose brightest star is Canopus. Canopus sits in the upper left of every logo here, and the darkest theme on this page takes its name.
The drawing in the logo is Moonlight, an odi my grandfather captained. He traded across the Maldives and in other countries. Each tool gets its own engraving in the same hand, so the whole fleet looks like one crew.
The look uses two colours, oxblood and sailcloth. Headings are set in Marcellus, which is cut from Roman inscriptions, and the text is Newsreader, which has the warmth of an old book page. The paper and the wave lines are there so the site reads like a ship’s log.
